The Fearless Chickadee
He knows that where the giants scuff
Seeds are threshed, and pygmies overturned.
Sent in among the plowed-up duff
By imperatives so long time learned
To inner terrors cheerily defiant,
To keep fierce inner fires well fed
Seeks out, in close approach, the fearsome giant,
Where timid doves and wary bluejays fear to tread.
That's not to say that jays resemble angels.
No fool the chickadee, though he can fly great
But still one thought that might explain, jells
He hasn't had to learn to migrate
