Honky Tonk

Back in the water again!

(Mid-May) After a longer-than-usual winter layup, "honky tonk" is back in the water. HT is a 20' Stratos(tm) Center Console (an open boat with the controls on a pedestal near the center), with a 175 HP Evinrude outboard for power. When people see it, they say, "what a great fishing boat!" Actually, I don't fish all that much; maybe I'll name my next boat "un-reel."

I tend to think of my boat as a wet pick-up truck. Mostly it gets used to commute back and forth to an island in the Lake St Clair Flats, but it might get used for anything. Probably the most memorable trip was one with a portable outhouse strapped to the foredeck. Some people will do anything to install a head on a boat!

I waited a long time to do this page; I was hoping to have a nice picture of the boat in its natural habitat. I still don't have either the picture or the means of scanning it in. Oh, well.
Late-breaking news: At least I have a camera now which can be fitted with a 100m infra-red remote. Now I can take a picture of Honky Tonk as it goes by. I also have access to a scanner, so look for a picture here, soon.
